Homicide investigators are on the scene of a new murder file in Richmond.
Mounties got calls about a possible shooting in the 7500-block of Bridge Street about 3:04 a.m. Monday.
“Upon police attendance, an adult victim was located. Despite all attempts to revive the individual he succumbed to his injuries,” Cst. Adriana Peralta said in a news release.
“Based on the investigative theory in this initial phase, this does not appear to be a random act.”
She said the area surrounding the scene will be cordoned off “for a significant amount of time.”
The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team has been called and will be working with the Richmond RCMP.
“Police are currently in the evidence gathering phase, no further information will be provided at this time,” she said.
